Extreme Networks X770 Series

The X770 series switches are purpose-built top-of-rack switches designed to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet-enabled servers and emerging 40 Gigabit Ethernet-enabled servers in enterprise and cloud data centers. X770 helps optimize new server deployments by supporting 40GbE ports natively or using breakout cables and/or fiber to support 10GbE ports to start the transition to the new virtualized environment.

The X770 switch supports up to 104 ports of 10GbE in one system and 816 ports of 10GbE in a stacked system using high-speed SummitStack. The X770 model supports 3 different stacking methods: SummitStack-320, SummitStack-160, and SummitStack-V. SummitStack-320 uses 4 ports of QSFP+ 40GbE providing 320 Gbps of stacking bandwidth in a stacked ring architecture full duplex. SummitStack-160 uses 2 ports of QSFP+ 40GbE resulting in 160 Gbps of stacking bandwidth. And SummitStack-V uses 2 ports of 10GbE, created from converting 2 ports of QSFP+ 40GbE into 2 ports of 10GbE connections, creating 40 Gbps of stacking bandwidth.

The X770 series provides high density Layer 2/3 switching with MPLS and with low latency cut-through switching, and IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing to enable enterprise aggregation and core backbone deployment in AC-powered and DC-powered environments as well as Front-to-Back and Back-to-Front airflow models.

X770 series include the ExtremeXOS modular operating system. The high availability ExtremeXOS operating system provides simplicity and ease of operation through the use of one OS everywhere in the network.

Extreme Networks X670-G2 Series

The X670-G2 product family provides high density 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 40 Gigabit Ethernet switching in a small 1RU form factor. With its versatile design, the X670-G2 series provides high density Layer 2/3 10Gb networking with low latency cut-through switching, and IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing to enable enterprise aggregation and core backbone deployment in AC-powered and DC-powered environments.

The X670-G2 series simplifies network operation with the ExtremeXOS modular operating system (OS), which is used among Extreme Networks’ ExtremeSwitching products. The high availability ExtremeXOS operating system provides simplicity and ease of operation through the use of one OS everywhere in the network.

The X670-G2 series consists of two models:

  • The X670-G2-48x-4q supports 48 ports of 1Gb/10Gb SFP+ plus four QSFP+ ports of 40 GbE in a single compact 1RU system. Each 40 Gigabit Ethernet port can be independently configured as 40 Gigabit Ethernet or 4 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
  • The X670-G2-72x supports an industry-leading 72 ports of native 1Gb/10Gb SFP+ in a single compact 1RU system without the requirement to use break-out cables to achieve high density 10Gb connections.

The X670-G2 series can serve as a:

  • Top-of-rack switch for servers in enterprise and cloud data centers
  • High-performance 10GbE core switch for a small network
  • High-performance 10GbE aggregation switch in a traditional three-tiered network

Extreme Networks X670 Series

The Summit X670 series – available in Summit X670V and Summit X670 models – provides high-density 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching in a small 1RU form factor. Summit X670V models can support up to 64 ports in one system and 448 ports in a stacked system using SummitStack technology. The Summit X670 model provides up to 48 ports in one system and up to 352 ports in a stacked system.

With its versatile design, the Summit X670 series provides high density Layer 2/3 switching with low latency cut-through switching, and IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing to enable enterprise aggregation and core backbone deployment in AC-powered and DC-powered environments.

Summit X670 series simplifies network operation with the ExtremeXOS modular operating system (OS), which is used amongst all Extreme Networks Summit and BlackDiamond Ethernet switches. The high availability ExtremeXOS operating system provides simplicity and ease of operation through the use of one OS everywhere in the network.

The X670 series is available in three models:

  • The X670V-48t model offers 48-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet non-blocking switching with 10GBASE-T interfaces. With the optional VIM4-40G4X module, X670V-48t can also support up to 4 ports of 40 Gigabit Ethernet, or an additional 16 ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
  • The X670V-48x offers 48-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet non-blocking switching with 10GBASE-X SFP+ interfaces.  With the optional VIM4-40G4X module, X670V-48x can also support up to 4 ports of 40 Gigabit Ethernet, or an additional 16-ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet

The X480 series switch is a versatile, high-end Ethernet switch for data center, enterprise aggregation, and Carrier Ethernet deployments. X480 helps optimize application performance for a variety of network deployments with its rich features and high scalability.

X480 provides high density for Gigabit Ethernet in a small 1RU form factor for up to 48 ports in one system and 384 ports in a stacked system using backward compatible SummitStack™, high-speed SummitStack128 running at 128 Gigabits per second, SummitStack-V, which utilizes 10GbE ports as stacking ports, enabling the use of standard cabling and optics technologies used for 10GbE, SummitStack V80, V160, or V320 for 80Gbps, 160Gbps, or 320Gbps of stacking bandwidth using standard cabling and optics for 40GbE. The X450-G2 switches are highly effective campus edge switches with available IEEE 802.3at PoE-plus power to support 802.11ac wave 2 Access Points, full motion cameras and other POE+ devices. The X450-G2 series is also an option for DSLAM or CMTS aggregation as well as active Ethernet access. Available in 24- or 48- port 10/100/1000 configurations, the X450-G2 also provides a choice of either 4 1GbE or 4 10GbE uplink ports on the front faceplate, making it an extremely versatile option for a wide variety of edge switching requirements.

The X450-G2 series is based on Extreme Networks revolutionary ExtremeXOS, a highly resilient OS that provides continuous uptime, manageability and operational efficiency. ExtremeXOS also supports advanced role-based policy functionalities on select ExtremeSwitching products including the X450-G2. Role-based policy establishes a secure framework where every user receives a predetermined set of rules for accessing the network based on their role in the organization. Policies are defined and centrally managed by Extreme Networks’ Extreme Control Center, a single pane-of-glass management system that automatically pushes policies to Extreme Networks’ access points and switches in the network, significantly simplifying IT’s task of managing a secure network and enhancing operational efficiency.
